Dr. Baxendell is the owner and one of the large animal veterinarians at the Groton City Animal Hospital.  She is a 1991 graduate of Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine.  She also has an Associates in Applied Science (A.A.S.) from SUNY Cobleskill and a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University (B.S.).  Dr. Baxendell opened her own large animal veterinary practice in 1998.  As this practice expanded and grew, she enlarged the practice to include small animals and opened the Groton City Animal Hospital in January of 2001.  Dr. Baxendell is one of two large animal practitioners in the practice.  She has a particular interest in equine dentistry and reproduction in both equines and camelids.  She has recently expanded her practice skills to include alpacas and llamas.  Dr. Baxendell provides routine and emergency ambulatory medical and surgical care for horses, sheep, goats, llamas and alpacas. In her spare time, she enjoys camping and canoeing with her family, riding and driving her horses and spending time with her two kids, Kelly and Chris and her husband Scott.

Katherine Dart, DVM

Congratulations to Katherine who recently got married and is now Dr. Katherine Dart!!!

Dr. Dart joined the practice in June of 2005 after graduating from Cornell University.  Primarily a large animal veterinarian, she has a special interest in equine and camelid medicine.  This past year, she attended conferences focused on current therapy in equine and alpaca medicine and surgery to help expand the services and care offered by GCAH.  Many of you have met her newest pet, June Bug, a cria that she did surgery on and bottle raised (with help!) this summer.  Katherine lives in Homer with her new family consisting of both 2 and 4 legged creatures and we can't forget her 2 dogs, Denali and Eliya.

 

 

 

Heather Field, DVM - picture coming soon

Dr. Heather Field is a 1991 graduate from the Ontario Veterinary College, Canada. She joined Groton City Animal Hospital in March 2008. Her practice experience over the years includes small animal emergency, general practice and feline medicine. She enjoys spending her leisure time with her family, cross-country skiing, roller-blading and biking.

Emily Walker, DVM - picture coming soon

 Dr. Emily Walker joined the GCAH family in June 2008.  Emily attended Yale University for her undergraduate studies.  Following several years as a teacher in high school education she returned to  school at SUNY Fredonia to complete her veterinary pre-requisites.  Having worked at several veterinary hospitals, humane societies, and zoos, she  was accepted to Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.  She studied in the mixed animal program which included exotics and zoo animals.  Emily and her husband were 4 year volunteers with their dogs at the Cayuga Medical Center as Pet Therapy Volunteers through Cornell Companions.   Emily and her husband have one daughter at  home and a second child on the way due October 2008.  They live in Ithaca, NY and enjoy ice hockey,  sailing, hiking with their dog, and fishing.
