
Vaccine Protocol for Alpacas and Llamas
Adults: Rabies and CD&T 2cc dose each annually
Pregnant Female: Boost the CD&T 4-6 weeks prior to delivery
Can boost A+D 2 weeks prior to birth
Crias:
ü Selenium/Vitamin E supplement
(Bo-Se) – give 1cc at birth
ü A+D+E for crias born after
September 1 and before May 1
§
Injectable – give 0.5cc at birth then
1cc per 50lb body weight every 90 days.
§ Oral
paste – can be given instead of injectable after dose at birth but
less effective than the injectable. Give 1,000IU per pound of body
weight every 45 days.
CD+T at:
þ 2
months of age – 2cc
þ 3 months of
age – 2cc
þ 4
months of age – 2cc
þ 6
months of age – 2cc CD+T and Rabies
Further vaccines will
be tailored to individual farm situations. Other vaccines which may be
recommended:
Lepto
Chlamydia
E. coli
PI-3
(Influenza)
We do not recommend using the "8 way" Clostridial vaccine –
more is NOT BETTER!!!
For llamas housed with or near equines, recommend EHV-1
(Rhino) vaccine.
