Kathy Baxendell, DVM
Dr. Baxendell is the owner and one of the
large animal veterinarians at the Groton City Animal Hospital. She is a 1991
graduate of Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. She also
has an Associates in Applied Science (A.A.S.) from SUNY Cobleskill and a
Bachelor of Science from Cornell University (B.S.). Dr. Baxendell opened
her own large animal veterinary practice in 1998. As this practice
expanded and grew, she enlarged the practice to include small animals and opened
the Groton City Animal Hospital in January of 2001. Dr. Baxendell is one
of two large animal practitioners in the practice. She has a particular
interest in equine dentistry and reproduction in both equines and camelids.
She has recently expanded her practice skills to include alpacas and llamas.
Dr. Baxendell provides routine and emergency ambulatory medical and surgical
care for horses, sheep, goats, llamas and alpacas. In her spare time, she enjoys
camping and canoeing with her family, riding and driving her horses and spending
time with her two kids, Kelly and Chris and her husband Scott.

Katherine Dart, DVM
Dr. Dart joined the practice in June of
2005 after graduating from Cornell University. Primarily a large animal
veterinarian, she has a special interest in equine and camelid medicine.
This past year, she attended conferences focused on current therapy in equine
and alpaca medicine and surgery to help expand the services and care offered by
GCAH. Many of you have met her newest pet, June Bug, a cria that she did
surgery on and bottle raised (with help!) this summer. Katherine lives in
Homer with her new family consisting of both 2 and 4 legged creatures and we
can't forget her 2 dogs, Denali and Eliya.
Emily Walker, DVM
Dr. Emily Walker joined
the GCAH family in June 2008. Emily attended Yale University for her under graduate studies. Following several years as a teacher in high school
education she returned to school at SUNY Fredonia to complete her veterinary pre-requisites.
Having worked at several veterinary hospitals, humane societies, and zoos, she was
accepted to Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She studied in the mixed animal
program which included exotics and zoo animals. Emily and her husband
were 4 year volunteers with their dogs at the Cayuga Medical Center as Pet Therapy
Volunteers through Cornell Companions. Emily and her husband have one daughter and a son at
home. They live in Ithaca, NY and when time allows they enjoy ice hockey, sailing, hiking, and
fishing.
